\u2018The Forgiveness Story\u2019<\/i>\u00a0is first and foremost a workshop. You will get some theory and a few basic assumptions but when it gets down to it, the meat of the process is in the process itself.<\/p>\n
The truth is, all the theory in the world won\u2019t help me forgive anybody. Reading about it isn\u2019t going to do it. If I\u2019ve gotten to the point where I feel I need to forgive someone then that person has hurt me so badly I just can\u2019t let it go.<\/p>\n
But why can\u2019t I let it go? Because it still hurts. Why does it still hurt?\u00a0Because it needs to heal.<\/i><\/p>\n
But healing is a funny thing. So often we know we\u2019ve been hurt but we\u2019re not sure\u00a0how<\/i>. And until we know\u00a0how<\/i>\u00a0we’ve been hurt, we\u2019re leaving the healing to chance. We\u2019re just as liable to make it worse than to heal it.<\/p>\n
Say you step off a curb and tweak your ankle \u2013 you could\u2019ve hurt a muscle, a bone, a ligament, a tendon; it could be a lot of things. All you know is it hurts and you can\u2019t walk.<\/p>\n
But you don\u2019t go back and kick the curb \u2013 well, maybe you do, but that doesn\u2019t help, it just makes it worse.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s where a lot of us get stuck when it comes to forgiveness; we just keep kicking the curb and never find out\u00a0how<\/i>\u00a0we actually got hurt in the first place. So we never heal and we can\u2019t forgive even if we want to.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s where\u00a0\u2018The Forgiveness Story\u2019<\/i>\u00a0comes in \u2013 identifying\u00a0\u2018how\u2019<\/i>\u00a0we\u2019ve been hurt and giving us specific tools to heal what hurts.<\/p>\n
\u2018The Forgiveness Story\u2019<\/i>\u00a0is a technique, a method, a process by which you will work through your own personal forgiveness\u00a0\u2018issue\u2019<\/i>\u00a0by creating your own personal forgiveness story.<\/p>\n
You will build this story piece by piece and each piece will be unique to you. There are no generic stories here so pick a real\u00a0\u2018issue\u2019<\/i>\u00a0from your own real life. Nothing general or vague \u2013 choose a real person who\u2019s hurt you \u2013 someone you really need to forgive.<\/p>\n
This is not a sit by the fire with a glass of wine easy read \u2013 this is a get your hands dirty, grunt and sweat real-life exercise.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve designed this online workshop to cover seven EXERCISES<\/em> in seven days. You will create a Protagonist and an Antagonist. You will develop your Conflict, your Climactic Moment and Resolution. Finally, you will write an Affirmation just for you. I know that\u2019s only six things but the Climactic Moment is divided into two parts so that\u2019s seven.<\/p>\n There will be\u00a0 a bunch of accompanying articles supporting these Exercises but the EXERCISES\u00a0<\/em>are the \u2018must do\u2019<\/em> part of this workshop. So be diligent and thorough.\u00a0 They will allow you to view your\u2018issue\u2019<\/em>\u00a0as an observer \u2013 as a Storyteller. They allow you a detached perspective you\u2019ve never had.
