Assumptions About Me

1. I AM A CHILD OF GOD

I am here as a unique expression of that One Infinite power. I exist so that It may express Itself by means of me.

At first glance this can be a tough one for those who’ve been brought up to think they are somehow separate from God. We’re basing this assumption on the previous assumptions about God being Infinite, Creative and Loving. Again, if you don’t believe it, don’t let it concern you – carry on – the process will work anyway.

2. I EMBODY DIVINE QUALITIES

Remember those Divine Qualities I attributed to God? At some level I possess those same qualities within myself. Sometimes these qualities may be more apparent than other times, but they are there none-the-less. And they are there in each and every one of us. To paraphrase the poet, “There is a Divine spark within man that may be covered up but never extinguished.”

The fact is, at our best we all embody untold qualities of ‘Good’. It’s what keeps us looking for the light when all around us is dark. It’s why we want to make things better rather than worse. It’s the Divine within us that always has its nose pointed toward the good. Are we always at our best? Of course not. But does that mean our best is not always within us? Of course not. Our best is within us always. It is our choice whether we use it or not. Our choice, each one of us, individually, at all times. Our choice, no one else’s.

3. I AM HERE ON PURPOSE

You may believe this or you may not. This book is not the forum to fully discuss this issue but it just makes it easier for me to believe I had some say in whether I came into this particular existence or not. I

think most of us hold out some inkling of hope that this is true and, for those who do not, you may need to refer back to suspend your disbelief.

4. I AM ON SOME SORT OF SPIRITUAL JOURNEY

This goes along with the ‘I’m here on purpose’ thing. If I’m here on purpose, there must be a purpose. Here, I call it a journey. Some people call it a ‘Path’. You can call it whatever you want. It’s not important what I call it, what’s important is I understand my path and your path are probably quite a bit different. And that’s okay; all paths are valid.

Now if I can actually accept this assumption, then this process is going to go a lot easier. The problem is I get hung up on the righteousness of my path or the futility of yours. This is where my judgments rear their ugly heads and spoil everything. So I’ve got to be diligent and do my best to accept everybody’s path as unique and perfect for them, even if I think they’re ridiculous, hurtful or insane.

5. I CREATE MY EXPERIENCE THROUGH MY THOUGHTS AND BELIEFS

This used to be the sole territory of meta-physicians, inspirational speakers and millionaires, but nowadays quantum physics has pretty much proven what the sages have said for thousands of years, “It is done unto you as you believe.”

This can be a real challenge for some people. They say, “Why would I create this horrible thing in my own life?”  This is not the forum for this discussion but you’ll find a list of books in the ‘BOOKS’ post.

The great thing is that if I create my reality though my thoughts, I can likewise change my experience by changing my thoughts and beliefs.

6. IT’S ALL ABOUT LOVE

Love is where the Spiritual and human aspects of us intermingle. The entire human experience revolves ultimately around love. We feel it instinctively and chase it incessantly. It’s been said that every human emotion has its root in either having love or chasing it. When I have it I feel great, when I chase it I feel lousy.

We will do everything in our power within this ‘Forgiveness Story’ process to show that love is always there, cannot ever be taken from us, and never needs to be chased.
